Okay, even though my son wears size large boxers, these striped ones are really nice, I'll buy the small instead.

This is an older article, but since I read it I've been thinking about whether this guy is right.

The general idea is that stores are organized for the convenience of the clerks and the egos of the manufacturers, rather than for the comfort and convenience of the shopper. For example, when you go in to a shoe store, you see the shoes arranged by gender, then brand, then type, and finally by size. However, when you are looking for a pair of shoes, (or at least when I am looking for a pair of shoes), I am looking for my gender, then a specific size, then a given type, and finally a brand. If you will note, besides gender, this is almost the reverse order of the characteristics that I care about.

Which way do you think makes more sense? Are there any exceptions to your choice?
